Ashtavinayak refers to a pilgrimage circuit of eight temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, one of the most revered deities in Hinduism. These temples are located in the state of Maharashtra, India. Each of the eight temples has a unique idol of Lord Ganesha, and the pilgrimage is considered auspicious among devotees.

1. Moreshwar Temple (Mayureshwar):
- Located in Morgaon, Pune district, this is considered the first temple in the Ashtavinayak pilgrimage. The idol here is known as Moreshwar or Mayureshwar, and it is believed to be a self-manifested (Swayambhu) idol. The temple has a beautiful and ancient architecture.
2. Siddhivinayak Temple:
- Situated in Siddhatek, Ahmednagar district, this temple is believed to be where Lord Vishnu appeased Lord Ganesha before slaying the demons Madhu and Kaitabha. The idol here is known as Siddhivinayak, signifying the “Lord of accomplishment.”

3. Ballaleshwar Temple:

4. Varadavinayak Temple:

5. Chintamani Temple:
- Located in Theur, Pune district, this temple is associated with the legend of Lord Ganesha retrieving the philosopher’s stone (Chintamani) for the sage Kapila. The idol here is known as Chintamani Vinayak.
6. Girijatmaj Temple:
- Located in Lenyadri, Pune district, this temple is unique as it is situated on a mountain and is one of the few Ashtavinayak temples where Lord Ganesha is depicted without a trunk. The temple is on the Lenyadri Mountain, and the idol is called Girijatmaj Vinayak.
7. Vighneshwar Temple:
- Situated in Ozar, Pune district, this temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha as Vighneshwar, the remover of obstacles. The idol here is believed to be self-manifested, and the temple is adorned with intricate carvings.
